On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, Mitel announced that it signed a definitive arrangement agreement to be acquired by an investor group led by affiliates of Searchlight Capital Partners, L.P. (“Searchlightâ€) in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $2.0 billion, including Mitel’s net debt.
In my opinion , I think we will shortly see Mitel as we know it dismantled like a 1963 VW Bug and sold off piece by piece . What is left over will be discarded on the scrap heap . I think we will see the original founders sailing away to retirement to the Pacific Islands for a long deserved rest .
Wow, who knew. You would think with all their purchases they were sound.
The press releases that I have read seem to indicate that they don't want to be beholden to shareholders while they migrate to a mostly hosted service. At least as the main Mitel brand.
Far from being the demise of Mitel, this acquisition will permit enhanced R&D at a faster pace than allowed when answering to stockholders.
That's What people said about Avaya and Intertel , where are they now ?
What do you mean be Apples and Oranges ?
Avaya declared bankruptcy (which they are climbing out of) due to tremendous debt and a shrinking customer base.
Inter-Tel was purchased by Mitel to acquire their customer base and product line, most notably the HX platform. The HX filled Mitel's void in the SMB market, and is still going strong.
The Mitel acquisition is intended to take the company from being publicly owned to private, which should allow more rapid adaptation to changing technology without being tied to stockholders. Expect a further shift in focus to cloud-based services.
Gartner rates Mitel just behind Cisco for Unified Communications, for four consecutive years.
Apples and oranges. Actually, apples and hand grenades.
Mitel also purchased Shoretel and Toshiba Communications recently....so they've got their customer base now as well.....huge acquisitions.....
