Hi all, been a while since I've been on here but long story short, I've been a tech for 20+ years and have a friend whose wife is looking for a simple small key system.

They currently have an Intertel Axxent that is on its' last leg, has been a good system which I installed probably 10 years ago. Lost the vm card though and replacements are tough to find for those as well as phones are just getting shot.
He wants me to install it but I've been in tribal govt work last 17 years so I've been out of the loop with the smaller key systems so to speak.

They don't want voip and they want on premise system. Lucents I am somewhat familiar with but no clue where to buy one and are they still pretty available for parts, etc?
I would need one with voicemail, AA, 6-8 phones and probably up to 4 POTS lines.

Or if anyone has any comparable suggestions we are open, as long as I can get some support if needed for programming or getting started in case it's one I've never seen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all.

Lucent is now Avaya. At any rate it's a different world from 17 years ago. There isn't really anything new that is going to make you happy Avaya wise. I would suggest an Avaya Partner ACS system which is available refurb and will continue to be for the next million years. It was Lucent's and Avaya's most popular system. It will do everything you requested and is easy to program.

If you are ok with refurb Nortel CICS with a call pilot.

Or Nortel BCM 50. It has a built in Call Pilot...

Your only real choice maybe referbished. New Avaya IP Office is way over your head if you don't know it.
With everything going Hosted , the choices given above sounds right for you, as long as the end user doesn't mind systems that may be older then the one he has.

Panasonic also makes an SMB phone system with vmail, It just might be a bit more than they want to spend.

Just wondering how much training is needed to install and maintain these systems

If you can read, use a screwdriver and punch tool you can install a TransTel.

About the same with the Panasonic. Only small thing is knowing how they use their terminology. I hear that there is a pretty decent forum where nice guys can help with that though
