Hello,
I have been chasing down a few odd problems with a version 10.3 emagen system connected to a digital 400 DB7. In particular, there are some circumstances in which an outside caller will dial an extension (on the auto-attendant) and the first digit dialed will not be processed by the system. I posted before on this subject here: https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/Forum10/HTML/000292.html and there was one other person who had a problem similar to mine that posted here: https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/Forum10/HTML/000237.html .

Anyway, I had an idea as to the possible cause of this problem, and was basically looking for some input. I seam to remember reading somewhere that there was a particular formula for the amount of RAM an emagen system should have installed based on the number of ports, and weather or not the voice recognition feature was being used. We are using an 8-port system, which is totally vanilla except for the SMDR feature, but the system was installed with only 128MB of RAM. This feels a bit anemic for even a desktop by today's standards, let alone a server of any type.... I couldn't say if this is normal on a Linux system or not. Does 128 Meg sound reasonable to you guys? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

No No No, Is this a tower or an IPEX card.

I don't know how much ram comes with it but people don't understand that this is a stand alone computer. 128 of RAM is fine for any computer that is running one program.
Did you try lower the external volume. Also make sure you trunks are on Very long.
There's nothing wrong with the towers.
You have to have something programed wrong, or the truncks are bad from telco.
Check the open lood current.

SORRY,
Just read your post from before. Your on using a PRI and having the problem? or is this problem on POT's lines.

and stay in touch on this site, I'll be looking.

I have never had a problem on any pri or
t-1 connections.

For SSohones and everyone out there, they have a fix for the CID Chl IPex CARD add-on!

And to help you MD810
There is a upgrade available 10.3.11.
The IPeX that Tony spoke of has a or had a known issue with low volume and missing DTMF tones.

I'm not 100% sure what an ipex is, but I dont think that is what we have - we're not currently using any of the telrad IP products, I know that for sure. We actually have 2 T1's that take inbound traffic and send them directly to an ACD queue, and 2 PRIs which are answered mostly by the Emagen (a few DIDs for faxes on the PRIs). There are no CO-lines in this system. The exact version of the software on the switch is 7.36. The system was installed with the volume key set to 2 and I've tried it at 1 as well. I'm going to see if the guy who sold me the system can get me up to 10.3.11 on the voicemail and we'll see what happens.

I'll post if I come up with anything either way.

Thanks

I would set the external Volume to 0.

Hey SSPhone,
Do you know if there is a different upgrade for the stand-alone emagen? My dealer contacted Telrad and got ahold of a file to fix the problem on an ipex, but we are using a stand alone system (linux computer connected to an OCD card on the switch, confirmed that it is definitely not an ipex)... Haven't gotten anyone to say weather or not it is safe to use this file in my setup.

thanks

10.3.11 is for the voicemail. There is also a chip change and software upgrade for the IPeX but that is a mute point if you don't have a IPeX. Is the voicemail connected to a OCD2 card or are thay using the OCD with a black box unit to a 48v to the voice channel?

The ipex isn't anything IP related, it's just the new mpd card emagen combo. They put an emagen on the mpd board and now it takes up 2 slots. I guess some people really wanted an inskin voicemail. Anyway, you should be able to use exactly the same updates on a stand alone as on the ipex. The only real difference between them as far as I know is the linux package distribution is different. Otherwise, they are just the same hardware in a different container. You might have your vendor call and ask if that makes a difference, but I'd be surprised if it did.

I just looked back over your old post. Did you ever upgrade the voicemail to 10.3?

I just spoke to Telrad tech support about an advanced replacement card and while I had them on the phone I asked about the upgrade for the ipex/external emagen and they told me that the upgrade is the same for either. Just make sure you don't skip an in between upgrade to get from your version to the latest.

I know this system has not been upgrade since it's been in my possession, although there are some files in the root that look like some kind of update patches (t3sp22, t3sp5, t3sp8). According to t3adm I'm on 10.3.8. Would I be missing anything in between 10.3.8 and 10.3.11?

Thanks.

you got a tower,, You should be fine.
If you have 10.2.8. You might have some little issues. up it to the 10.2.10

If your in 10.3.XX you should be fine.

There's only one problem I know of in 10.3.xx. And it don't happen unless you need that application.
