Have one extension who has been able to program his voice mail we set up call foreward to voice mail when no answer or busy however when phone goes to foreard to voice mail we get name not found. when checking both the phone and the phone express software 4.03 cannot see any problem Help this is a new sales person

Sounds like your VoiceMailID codes might be mucked up. DK280 uses functions #656 and #657 to tell the Voicemail system which mailbox to link to; unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Phone Express, so I can't tell you what the specific codes shoud be for your system, but maybe thiss will help:

1)To tell voicemail which box to send to:
[Intercom] # 6 5 6 9 1 n n n will connect to mailbox nnn on a toshiba voicemail, on my Contact VM I replace the 91 with a # key yielding:
[Intercom] # 6 5 6 # n n n
2)To tell voicemail which mailbox to log into when pressing [MSG] button:
[Intercom] # 6 5 7 9 2 n n n is used on a toshiba voicemail, my Contact VM replaces the 92 with a *, thus:
[Intercom] 6 5 7 * n n n
Note that the Userguide uses the term extension for these codes, which is fine as long as extensions and mailboxes are mapped together.
Did you set these two codes? Unless they default to the "Toshiba standard" 91 & 92, I would think that you would be getting a canned receptionist greeting rather than an invalid mailbox number message.

added: I misread - "Name not found" sounds like the "9" of the 91 is taking you to an automated directory, leading me to thinke even more that you need to replace the 91 & 92 with something else.

where did you get the info to use * or # instead of 91 ?

The programming guide for the voicemail system will tell you what DTMF string it looks for preceding the ext number when using in-band integration. Toshiba Stratagy systems use "91", Contact uses "#".

Check with the voicemail mfg'r.

jopejr - the information on # and * came from the tech support people who set up this DK280 system and trained me on the basics about ten years ago. We still have a good working relationship for phone support (and on-site for major changes).

This information is also in the Telco Contact VoiceMail Installation manual which they left with the equipment. Again, the examples I gave were for my non-toshiba voicemail - you need to find manuals for and/or someone familiar with your Phone Express to determine whether I'm pointing you in the right direction or on a wild goose chase.

with phone express (i'm assuming AVT) it usually uses either 7 or 8, this is programmed in your day and night call processor
in the avt day call processor (000)

8 Subscriber msg Ixxx
then choose a digit to access messages
let's say 5
5 access msg Ixxx

on the toshiba phones
#656 8 ext
#657 5 ext

this has to be done at every phone or it's easier with the pc programmer if you have it

I used 8 and got the messgaes going in how to I find out the code to get the message out 7 or 5 doesn't work. how do I access the AVT call processsor to find the number

One more thought - do you know how to get into your mailbox either from another phone or to check saved messages when the MSG light is not lit? This should give you a hint as to what to put after the #657.

Using my contact system as an example again, I would call extension 256, wait for "Thank you for calling the YWCA..." and press the * key, wait for "Please enter your mailbox number" and press my 3 digit extension - actually I don't even wait, most of the time I blind-dial the *nnn as soon as voicemail answers. The *nnn that I manually dial is the same sequence that is automatically dialed by the #657 setting.
In your case, you would manually dial the extension specified in the #604 Call forward.
Hopefully either a quick-reference card or the voice prompts might tell you what to press next to access your mailbox.

try #657 # ext
the avt USUALLY uses # to access a mailbox manually (cranial flatulance on the 5 thing) i.e. to log into a MB 'longhand',dial avt hunt group, when greeting plays press # 'please enter your mailbox number' etc.

#657 # ext should take you directly to 'please enter your security code' when the msg key is pressed

ps. cranial flatulance is just a more polite way of saying brain fart for those of you in rio linda

to access the call processor you just go in and edit MB 000 (usually 050 is night call proc. and 070 is holiday)

(i use 'usually' a lot because all these things are programmable and are sometimes changed at initial setup)

at main screen ('on hook' next to all lines) press enter

next screen says mailbox and password, maint MB is usually 999 and default PW is 0000

next screen arrow down to 'mailboxes' and enter

in 'first mailbox' enter 000 (or 0000 if 4 digit MB's)
ignore 'last mailbox' unless you want to do a range of MB's at once

you will see a list of all possible digits and what they do

whichever digit says 'access msgs' is the one you want, for #657 (that digit) ext, as i said before it's usually # but can be changed

if mb 999's PW isn't 0000, try using the receptionist's MB and PW, i always set her (or him....gotta be p.c. here) as an administrator with screen editing as a backup and so she (or he) can set system time through her (or his) MB

almost forgot
press F1 to save and exit the MB then ESC till you're back to 'on hook; on hook; on hook screen)

one nice thing about AVT's is all your choices for whatever you can do at that point is listed on the bottom of the screen

Gotta love it - My Teleco Contact uses # to leave a message, AVT uses it to check for messages.
Glad it all came together.
