I have dkt2000 series and want certain phones to ring on incoming calls. How do I turn the ringer on? This is not the operator attended phone and is not a display phone. Thanks.
I will assume your system is DK14/40/40i/424/424i and your DKT2000 series phones are either 10 or 20 buttons phones:
Use Program 39 to assign buttons for appearance of your lines then Programs 81-89 for CO Line Station Ringing.

Yes, my system is the DK14. I have a 20 button display phone and the phone that I want to ring on incoming calls is the 10 button phone. I have 3 books on the system and not a single one has anything about programming. If I could get into the program mode I'm sure I could muddle my way through it (or screw it up further), but I can't even get to program mode. The company we bought these phones from won't give me a spec of information. They want to send a technician out to program the phone to ring. $70 minimum charge to make one lousy phone ring. I'm not stupid but there's no "program" button on my phone & no book to guide me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, me again, sorry. I'm sorry if I sound like a dummy. The first blank is the program (Program 39 is what I need I think). The second blank is the port number (006) followed by # and then the code to make the phone ring. I've tried a couple different codes but the phone still isn't ringing. Anyone know the code? They're all 400 type numbers (480, 479, etc.) Thanks again.

To be fair, there are some simple tasks that can be done by the end user once you understand what you're doing. Everything I do I learned from sitting with the techs that installed my DK280 system 6 years ago thru the first year or two of service calls. It also helps to know which programs to stay away from (hint - several in the 90 range can wipe out all your settings), so blindly trying keystrokes is not a good idea.
Basically program 39 is used to define whether a button accesses a CO line or does some other function - it has nothing to do with making that CO button ring. If you would go back to the first response you would see that you use programs 81 thru 89 to set which lines ring on which extensions.
(Assuming you are dealing with standard CO lines - T1's and DID's are over my head and may be different)
Until you get a good programming manual and understand the difference between Day / Day 2 / Night combined with Immediate / Delay 12 / Delay 24 I would still recommend working with a tech.
I'm sure that you can learn what to do, but even program 39 which is fairly simple can have undesired consequences if you're not careful - for instance removing the speed-dial button can make the * and # buttons work in strange ways.
Good luck, but I can't stress enough that making changes to a production system without sufficient knowledge and expert guidance is a disaster waiting to happen.
Program 81 = immediate ring, 82 = delayed ring 12 seconds, 83 = delayed ring 24 seconds. Go into prog. 81, select what port # (port 000 = ext. 10), the buttons that are lit will ring immediately. Note that they start from the bottom button, not what's written on the strip. The intercom button programs line 1, line 1 button programs line 2....
