I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I cannot get SMDR to work on the PIOU1 card on a DK16e I've been working on. I made pretty detailed notes the last time I got it to work on a DK16 with a PIOU card. I've got the card assigned. I started off assigning it as a PIOU type 41, but then I saw something in another topic that mentioned type 43, which isn't even listed in my book. I have it in slot 06, as mentioned is required, per the book. I've not messed with any jumpers, but have tried different positions of the switches, going between 300 and 1200, using both the N81 and 7E1 settings. My connector is pinned out as per the diagram, and exactly as it was for the last one that I had working.

Does the fact that this is a PIOU1 instead of a PIOU have anything to do with the trouble I'm running into?

What's the difference between a PIOU and PIOU1??

Thanks!

All it says in the manual is it can be a PIOU,PIOUS the code is 41, the only other program that might matter is 60 smdr output

Phonemeister just helped me out, and I got it going!! I only had a DK16 book with me. He was looking in a DK40i book. My entire problem was related to slot numbering. In program 03, I was only able to enter slots 00, and then 11, 12, 13, and so on. Since my book and the cabinet showed them as 00, 01, 02, and so on, I just ASSUMED that 11 was slot 1, making the top left slot of the expansion (labeled S06) slot 16. In reality, it was slot 17. Apparently, the base cabinet slots are 11-14, and the expansion slots are 15-18. Once I removed my card 41 from slot 16 and put it in slot 17 (in program 03), then power-cycled, it worked beautifully.

I knew my adapter that I built had to be right because I used the exact same pinout as the last one that I had made work. I even went back and checked the pinout a couple times to be sure.

Now it's working great at 1200N81.

Thanks phonemeister!!

(I'll definitely be updating my documented notes on how to setup SMDR on a DK16 and 16e, so I know the differences to watch for.)
