I recently had to replace my IPV8 card with a new card in my CTX100 phone system. Initial installation and configuration of the VM boxes on the new card worked perfectly however my attempt to backup the contents of the CF card using a media reader and PC has rendered my VM system inoperable.

Here is exactly what I did before the system stopped working…
1) Ran a backup through Stratagy Admin Ver UADM.2.1
2) Shutdown entire system (powered off everything)
3) Pulled IPV8 card and removed the CF card
4) Copied all files on the CF card to my PC using a media reader
5) Then copied files from PC to a new CF card <planned on using as backup>
6) Tried the new CF card with copied data in IPV8 unit and found Stratagy VM would not initialize.
(couldn’t even access Stratagy Admin)
7) Put original <know to be working> CF card back into IPV8 card and power system on.
8) All lights indicated proper boot and initialization from original CF card and am able to access Stratagy Admin.

The problem: While I am able to access IPV8 for config thru Stratagy Admin I cannot access VM thru the actual phone system. From the main Stratagy Admin screen all 8 ports remain idle when calling from an outside line. When the unit was working properly I would see callers get box 990 and then route to 991 as programmed. In review of the troubleshooting tips in the Stratagy_Flash_and_IPV8_install guide I believe this symptom relates to “System boots up to the Main menu, but does not answer” and it suggests the following 1) Wrong Analog port being used. 2) Bad analog port from phone system, 3) Bad line cord.

Can anyone point me in the right direct as I’m not sure where to go next. I have tried restoring from known good backups, without any success.

Ive had success copying one CF card to another using Linux to .img it, but only with 256mb or 512mb cards. Tried doing a 4gb with a 256mb img and it did not like it at all.

As far as not answering, make sure the card is enabled and working through eManager and in "Station Assignments" that you still have your SLT ports assigned as Voicemail.

Try dialing one of the ports DN and see what it does

If you are using SMDI, check to see if in the Stratagy paramaters the smdi base port matches the first voicemail DN
Try shutting down the IVP8 with Uadmin and then recycle the power on the CTX.

Is the CF card from Toshiba or a blank CF card? If it is blank unformated card, then it is unlikely you will be able to boot from a new card by copying files over. It is a DOS bootable drive. DOS is picky about how the boot files are stored.

Rather then wainting for an outside caller, have you tried calling the voicemail ports directly?
How would I go about calling vm ports directly? Also I am using WinAdmin 2.21A.12 in lieu of eManager. Any further advise would be great.

Thanks in advance

Try dialing the PDN of the first voicemail port from the intercom on a phone and see what it says.

will return "Extension Vacant" on the display, or just go into voicemail

An IVP8 would just keep ringing if the port was bad.

You could list the extension and look for the SLT extensions that are type Voicemail, instead of extension.

Call each port (VM extension) directly from another phone. Sometimes a port may stop working and not answer, or not answer sometimes.
