I have a CIX 670 w/ a IVP8 voice email. When you call into the administrator's mailbox to reset a user's security code, the password does change . . . but not to what the manual says it should. Two techs I know both said the same thing; (manufacturer's default) , ( I am recalling what they told me, what we tried from memory at the moment but both were on sight and were equally stumped)

I am guessing that some place in the system settings you can tell it what the password resets to.

Edited to remove passwords.
I saw the password before it was edited out.The one posted was not the default password. You said it was by memory so maybe you poste the wrong one but tried the correct code.

If you enter the correct default passcode but it is not correct (enter it quickly. Some people pause to long), then the code of the default box may have been changed. It is possible for someone to enter the default box and change the code.

A tech may need to enter the system with software to reset the defalut code.
Do you have a computer and software to log into the IVP8? It may be worth it to you to have a Toshiba tech set this up for you.

A one hour service call can let you manage the IVP8 for as long as you own it. A few buck now for total independence can be a good investment.

You can always call different dealers and see what their hourly rate is. Some are high and others, especially independent techs, can be lower.

Thanks, Bunnie
Hey all,

Thanx for the input... sorry for the slow reply back.

@newtecky >then the code of the default box may have been changed. It is possible for someone to enter the default box and change the code.

That must be it. Next time we are there, or dial in remotely I'll see if we can figure out what is controlling the default password. There was a MB named DEFAULT .

Reading this forum back I see that I can not list the default user password reset that we tried... but yes we know what it is, have the manuals, used to be a dealer and 2 different techs confirmed that is correct. [ Nothing super secret.. not like I am telling you level 10 admin on an Executone or how to access LCR or copy features between CPU's wink wink wink wink. ]

@Hoppy Bunny - yes we program / administer the voice mail and CIX from a laptop. (Even remotely)

When I figure out what field controls the default MB set up I will let you know.

Thanx again

It is pssible that someone could log into the default box and change the passcode. The MB called default is the one that controls the default passcode when you do a reset, and is just like any other mailbox that you can login. I don't know why someone would, unless they missunderstood the instructions to setup their own mailbox. I have had people put their personal greeting in the main auto attendant. If you log into the system check to see the date the MB was last accessed.

To avoid posting the default passcode, I'll send a PM.
