Alright -
My customer took a very nearby lightning strike.
and I have the following symptons.

CO lines will dial in, and ring the right phones. when you answer cannot hear voice either direction.

when trying to pick a line from a phone, cannot hear/get dialtone

station to station, is extremely distorted

tried pulling all but one pdku2, and the rctuc3 and d3, and did a station to station call and still distorted.

I have three cabinets -
cabinet 1 -
in slots 1 and 2 I have rctuc3 and a rctu3d
all the remainder are filled with pdku2's

cabinet 2.
first 2 slots, pdku2's,third is rstu2, fourth is pdku2, fifth is 8 line co card, sixth is piou1

cabinet three -
2 line co card, and 2 pdku2's.
-------------------------------

Any thoughts on where to start. Could 1 or all the cabinets be damaged? I have no sign directly of the any scorching.

of course I know how little that means.

i have tried just pulling the co cards to see if that cleared the station to station intercom distortion, and that had no effect.

thanks
Michael

alright, one of my local guys suggested it was the brain -
rctuc3 and a rctu3d
i'm finding the rctuc3 fairly cost effectively, however any I find in pairs, are extremely expensive.
the cabinet is a dksub424a, anyone know what brain combinations are compatible with this.
I'm hoping to get something overnited in the a.m. to arrive Wednesday if at all possible.

I agree with RCTU failure. I had similar issues with a bad RCTU...

The A is for a single cabinet, B/B is for two cabinets and C/D is for 3 to 5 Cabinets.

So you will need the RCTUC and RCTUD BOTH! Watch the chip levels. C3 is Release 3 and C4 is Release 4. Either will work since it sounds like you will be programming from scratch...

Good Luck

have you checked the power supply trips
press the little white pegs in and if one clicks it had tripped.
sounds like you have lost 1 of the back plane voltages. have you tried a new power supply?

It was the brains, replacing them resolved all issues. thanks for taking the time to reply!!
