I have a client that has a Strata DK40 and they just got a Strategy DK VM unit. They would like me to install and set up an auto attendant system. I am not really familiar with Toshiba products and grabbed the documentation. The documentation seems a little fuzzy and I was hoping to double check and see if anyone was familiar with the features of the Strategy DK and the Strata DK40. I am figuring I am going to have to get a K5RCU(1/2) to make the VM work or is that only the case if I want to use an external VM system? Also, does anyone know the range of features of the Strategy DK? Does it have an auto attendant more capable than just announcing the mail boxes? Will I instead need to use the DK40's built in Auto Attendant and a digital announcer?

Thanks!

The Strata DK40 does require the K5RCU DTMF card if you are going to have a VM installed.
The Stratagy DK does have full Automated Attendant functionality.

A couple of question first:
1. do you have a DKT 20 key handset to do the required system programming?
2. do you have the Stratagy DK VM admin software and null modem cable?
3. do you have a DK40 and Stratagy DK I&M manual?

The DK40's built in AA is actually the ACD function that requires a R key to activate it and then using a couple of SLT extns you could hook up a digital announcer to play queueing messages. This is not a AA like the Stratagy DK.

I would suggest you contact one of the guys on here and get someone to do it for you as you have said you are not familliar with the Toshiba product range.

Good luck smile

Carl,

Thank you for getting back - I really appreciate the response and info. In terms of your questions:

1)I made the assumption they had one on site - will follow up with them to make certain.
2)I have Strategy VM Manager 1.7 and a null modem cable. Let me know if you think I should be using something different
3) Yes, I do have the DK40 and Strategy DK I&M manuals, as well as the DK40 programming manual.

I figured the DK40's built in AA was more hassle than the client wants to go through so thanks for the info an verifying. I will take the Strategy DK having a full Automated Attendant functionality to hopefully be robust enough for what they are looking to do (will find out fully when on site). Does anyone have any info on it? I am not finding info on working with/setting it up in the I&M Manual. Any info would be appreciated.

Joe.... Just so you know, there was a bug in the VM Manager 1.7 that would mess up the time in the system. I recommend getting 1.8 or 1.11.

The Stratagy DK Card Auto Attend will be fine. We have used it for years with some fairly large companies. You can do single digit routing from every mailbox, thus giving you the ability to create a pretty extensive menu tree.

Voyager,

Thanks for the heads up on VM Manager 1.7. I will check back with the person who sold them the Stratagy DK and see if I can get a different version from him.

Also, just heard back on from the client regarding the phones. They all have dkt2010sd phones (as well as some ekt phones) - will have to look up but am thinking it is not a 20 key.

Thanks!
