Hello all. Am on a Toshiba CIX system. Where are the settings that allow an extension to be dialed from the auto attendant? Are those in the vm's auto attendant settings; the directory number settings; or somewhere else. Currently from the auto attendant I can only directly dial extensions that are listed as options. I want to be able to dial arbitrary extensions. How would I go about setting that up? Thank you all for your time!
If answered by auto attendant you have to have a mailbox for any extension you want to dial out. i.e. you need a mailbox 123 to call station 123
Thank you SSPhone! I added a mailbox but still had issues dialing that extension. Turns out I had to add teh mailbox and add a network DN (multiple ties). Thank you!
So that was one issue you helped solve... The post title is what I meant to ask about : ) Is there a way to access a trunk/CO line from the auto attendant? Or some other way to access a trunk line by calling into the system? Thank you!

Yes with DNIS

But I wouldn't suggest you do it. To many bad hackers out there to leave trunk to trunk connections open these days.
I was about to say the same thing about "Toll Fraud" via voicemails with the ability to make outbound calls!
This is why all of my voicemail ports are call barred to making any outbound calls unless they have a number in the exception list.

DISA is another way as this is not by the auto attendant but not recommended because of the toll fraud vulnerability.
Thank you for your replies! Luckily for me in this case, the trunk line I wish to access connects to a code call system. So there is no risk of toll fraud, only mischievous code calling : ) But I can password the code call system if I need to. Have been scouring the docs and havent found a lot of info on DNIS and how I could get that to work for me. Looking at DISA it appears there would be short period of time with a dial tone before the auto attendant picks up and I'm not sure that would be desirable. I was hoping there was a way to directly access the trunk line from the auto attendant but not seeing any documentation on that. Though I do see some mailboxes transfer to numbers that have special characters in them...

I did try adding an extension to the auto attending who's only purpose was to be permanently forwarded to the trunk line, but for whatever reason the code call could not detect DTMF through the patch.
