I've seen mixed reviews on the STS. Anyone want to elaborate?

I love it. Its easy to install, program, feature rich, and two in-skin voicemail options (the basic flash-based or the HDD). As a 'gold-tier' dealer I have several phone options available (STS 24 button, or the entire XTS line-up). Reliability has been excellent so far (modu as the only exception). It's pricing allows me to be aggressive with competition. So far all my STS customers are happy customers.

We've had good luck with them. Very low cost item that you can do a lot with. It now has a 5-year warranty.

We took on the Vodavi Infinite line so as to have a secondary product in case we continued to have problems with Comdial when they were going through restructuring. It was really hard to get used to the Vodavi product from an installer standpoint after doing Comdial for 15 years. But I soon realized that the STS, even thought it is available to anyone, met the customer's expectations even if it did not meet mine. We sold a lot of them and never went back. And we made money on every one. I could not say that about other small systems we have sold. I was supprised to see some post that were so negative against it.

dwflood: DO you buy the STS direct from Vodavi? I get the STS from Graybar and did not know there was an option for the Infinite phones. We tried it today and get the option on the phone type but the phone does not work. Maybe if I get the STS from Vodavi direct the software would be different.

The STS is a great little system. I have installed 50+ and the only problem i have encountered was the modem issue as mentioned earlier

MARK3906,

The STS 'Gold' is a different part number (3500-01 vs 3500-00) with the software to support the XTS phones. I do believe it to be a 'gold dealer' only item. You'll need to talk to your Vodavi rep about it.

You may want to consider buying the STS from Target Distributing. They will give you 7% off the list price. I'm not sure if anyone else will do that.

Thanks for the part number. I think I have Gold status. Gold-Rust, I can't remember.

We are a gold dealer and have been selling Vodavi products for 15 years. We were formerly an infinite dealer so we have access to the infinite software upgrade (you don't need to buy a different KSU, just change the SW chips). They are only available to gold dealers. It makes the STS even better for us. We have 250+ STS systems installed and have had very good luck with them. Yes, we had an issue with the modem cards early last year, but it went away pretty quickly. We also had some trouble with the caller ID firmware, but it was corrected quickly as well. Perhaps only one problem that's been tough on us was the flash-based voice mail. Early versions of it broke down a lot. Fortunately, Vodavi has software uploads available to change the voice mail card to a more stable version. Since the newer version (20051) came out, we haven't had any trouble so we are being proactive and updating older ones. Bottom line is that we love the system and they sell like hotcakes!

You do have to be a Vodavi Infinite dealer to get the upgrade chip. There is a cost for the upgrade. It's nominal but you can use the infinite series phone.

I have been installing the STS for awhile now and as stated above there were some issue with the in skin voicemail due to manufacturer problems but things have been ironed out.

We love the system as well. We've been putting alot of these in premium built houses and fits perfectly.
