We have a situation with one mailbox (117) on a Talkpath voice mail that I can't figure out. When the user tries to listen to the second message in the mailbox, the system goes off-line after a few seconds of listening. The system then needs to be rebooted.

This only occurs when listening to the second message. The first one plays back just fine and all normal options are there.

We've tried quickly hitting 3 + # to delete the message right away, but that doesn't help. We've also tried deleting the mailbox and reinstalling it and that didn't help either. To make things even more strange, after reinstalling the mailbox, all original greetings, messages and settings are intact. Only the password is initialized.

We ended up giving the user another mailbox number (217) and changed the VMID on his phone as a temporary measure, but he doesn't have message waiting. Because the system is an old DVX3, we can't use a remote mailbox button as a permanent workaround.

Any ideas?

Sounds like its time to use e-com and reinit the box ED.

Ed, I'm happy to jog your memory. To remove the above, just add or modify this registry setting:

MaintDeleteVox=Y

This will delete all messages when a mailbox is deleted and will play the new user tutorial. It does not delete old signatures.
