My school will be replacing the phone system. What was the typical integration between the 2 systems? They can 4 digit dial each other as if they are all on the same system but some phones say Rauland and some say Vodavi. I'm confused!!

Usually the phones located in the classrooms are connected to the Rauland system. The office phones are connected to the Vodavi system. The two are integrated with special software in the phone system and the Rauland system and tie/dnis connections between the two.

I have run into this before here in my area when one of the high schools replaced its office phone system but did not intend to replace the classroom Rauland Borg system. The Rauland did not work at all with the new Voip phone system. I was called in and after a lot of work and a SLT/BTI interface ordered from Cisco we managed to restore the ability of the phones to call the office operator but not the other way around. I left it with the school having to keep the old phone system just for intercom to the classrooms and all other traffic on the new one.

MY point is this. The Rauland Borg system is set up to work with the Vodavi only and be aware of the fact you most likely just cannot replace the phone system and expect everythng to keep working.
