Customer with about 50 ext, flash vm. Someone decided to take off the power co pole in front of the location.
Power was off several hrs. When power and co were restored the system went crazy, lost card slot, ringing etc.
The xts is behind a good size UPS, why did the ups not protect this system?
Thanks Gary S.

My guess is that the UPS needs repair or other equipment is also being powered by the UPS .

Some UPSs are back up power but they have to switch over from the pass thru AC outlet on the UPS to the battery. You have another problem, it appears that the ram battery on the XTs CPU card could be dead and that is the real reason the system lost programming including card slot configuration and ringing assignments. Even a good UPS won't protect you from issues if the power outage is longer than the back up time of the UPS if your RAM batter is bad.

Also, check the date on the UPS batteries. Most batteries are good for only three to five years.
UPS battery life expectancy is dependent upon many factors: Environment (temperature, ventilation...), Load (No more that 80% of UPS rated capacity).
