Customer has had and used voice mail since install.
Today went with Auto attendant and no live answer.
Everything is working as programmed except when outside call dial 0.
I put 2 ext, 100 and 105 into hunt group 457 and make ext 105 a attendant.
When outside caller dial 0 it rings only at 100 and not a 105, what did i miss?
thanks gary s

Gary, in flash 10, you need to assign your two attendant stations there. Just enter each extension number + 1 to add them. Don't put them into a hunt group. You can have multiple attendant stations under flash 10 and in doing so, they can also take advantage of most "attendant-only" functions. Keep in mind that the first programmed attendant station is the only one that controls date/time setting and system speed dial programming. I like to put a call coverage button with ringing on both attendant stations for the other one so that they receive simultaneous ringing, but that's up to you and your customer.

Thanks Ed i will try this today. The way it is now when a caller dials 0 in the A.A. it rings 100 only, they want another ext (105) to ring also.
thanks, Gary s.

Ok Ed.
Nopw the Dr. office wants to add another option on the auto attendant.
Dial 7 for xx and that to ring all phones not just the 2 attendant stations.
Do i remember that the voice mail can not ring a hunt group ?????
Thanks gary s.

In these instances, I like to set up a virtual extension with call coverage buttons for it on all extensions. It can even be an unused analog extension if you have one to spare. This way, the phones can ring when option 7 transfers callers to this virtual extension. Additionally, the users can add/remove themselves from this ring group using speed+speed button programming. The best part is that the phones' displays aren't sacrificed for the silly 'hunt group' message in place of the normal date/time/extension display.

Ed, the problem i may have on some phones there is no unused button for call coverage.

I've encountered this situation before, especially when 8 button sets are in use. There comes a point when the customer has to make a decision as to what's more important. There are some features that often get a button, but don't really NEED to have a button for it, for example voice mail or all-call paging. Since all phones have a message waiting light, they might be willing to accept dialing 440 for voice mail instead of having a button, or dialing 700 for all call paging. One other time I've gotten creative in these instances is to use a phone's own DSS button for the call coverage feature. I mean, who really needs a DSS button for their own extension?

I was thinking the same thing.

Ed. the call coverage is working good. Another question, a times someone calls in and that call goes to ext 100 not the A.A. Could this mean all voice mail ports are busy and the system takes the call to ext 100 ?

Yes, the default for outside calls coming in with no destination available to ring the system attendant(s). This is usually not a big issue when a digital voice mail is used and blind transfer is in place for calls to extensions. If supervised transfer is being used, then the ports get tied up for the entire duration of the call. That's a terrible waste of resources.
