Hi all,

My school has a Dukane Starcall intercom system. Plugged into the main rack is a desktop paging mic that sends that audio to certain zones. Recently, whenever an announcement is made from the mic, a speaker call-in is placed to the main ATEL in the main office. Out of curiosity, what do you think some possible causes may be?

Thanks,

Matteo

The call in line is picking up the audio this can be caused by a few problems. A short in the wire or the wrong type of wire used, improper wired or damaged call switch would be my first spots to check.

If it is always the same room that calls-in, we had a similar situation recently on a Bogen Multicomm. Turns out that the shield for that room that generated the bogus call-in wasn't grounded. This allowed 'leakage' of the high level 25 volt line to affect the speaker line, generating the call-in. So, you can try grounding the shield, ONE END ONLY (preferably at the PA rack) and see what happens.
