Does anyone know if an analog line on an NEC Electra Pro 2 can be setup to ring when an outside line calls in? Can someone tell me the codes to do it? The company that is supposed to support us isn't sure, and will charge for a service call to come in and punch a few keys on a phone for us to see.

Are you able to access program mode?

Next step would be to determine what port & ext. number is your analog port. I will have to get my book so I don't give you bad info.

should be the same as the elite's doc

7-1 for the slot assignments
4-10 for the stations
4-01/02 for day/night ringing

Thanks guys for the help. However, did I mention that I'm an enduser? I've punched in codes by rote from what I've been able to get out of the service men, but I don't know exactly what to do with 7-1 and the like. Could someone translate the instructions given above into keystrokes? I know the FNC/#0*789 to get into program mode (without my notes in front of me), but I'm lost after that.

from ext 100
feature hold #0*

press linekey #7 (clear buttons are the line keys. goes 1-4 on top row, then 5-8 the next etc)

press linekey #1

display will show:
1 01:something here -??

the 1st number is the cabinet
the 01 wll be the slot number
the something will be the card type
the ?? will be the beginning port number

write all of that down.
hit transfer

display will be the same except the 01 will be 02:and the something may be another type of card or it might not.

write this one down

keep hiting transfer and going thru all of the combinations & writing them all down.

post the results and i'll help you with the next step

speaker will get you out of programming

1 04:ESI 8-21 = 25
1 05:SLI8G-21 = 33
1 06:SLI8G-21 = 41
1 06:NON
1 08:ECR =11
1 0A:MIF =01
1 0B:NON
2 01:COI 8-20 =01
2 02:COI 8-20 =09

All the rest are NON

And thanks so much for your time and help!

ok..you've got 16 analog ports

let's go thru your cards

slots on cabinet #1:
#1-esi (digital stations) ports 1-8
#2-esi ports 9-16
#3-esi ports 17-24
#4-esi ports 25-32
#5-sli (analog stations) ports 33-40
#6 sli ports 41-48
#7-nothing
#8-ecr (paging)
#0a-mif (programming and other things)

slots on cabinet #2:
#1 coi (phone lines in) ports 1-8
#2 coi ports 9-16
#3-nothing
#4-nothing
and so on

so your analog ports are 33-48
-----------------------------------------
which analog ports do you want to ring?

all? if so then it's easy!
1>get into programming feat hold #0* thing
2>press linekey #4
3>press conference until you get to 33 on the left side (33/01 dy rng)
4>light up the clear buttons you want to ring (these will be the lines you want to ring. you're equipped for 16 lines. so if you want all 16 lines to ring light up all 16 clear buttons. press them 1 time to light up green for immediate ring or press them 2 times to light up red for delay ring)
5>transfer to write
6>display will show 33/02 nit rng or something
7>type in 01 on the keypad
8>display will again show 33/01 dy rng and all of the buttons will light up.
9>conference
10>display shows 34/01 dy rng
11>light up the lights again
12>transfer
13>01 on the keypad
14> and so on until you get to port 48
15>the last on will say 48/01 dy rng
16>light the lights
17>transfer 1 more time
18>speaker to get out of programming

after you do all of that all of the analog ports will ring.

========================================
now if you needed a specific analog port to ring let me know. kinda the same but we'll have to figure out what port it is

OK, I thought I could do this without asking for help, but... I thought the line I wanted to make ring was port 33 (ext.201) but when I followed your instructions for just the first two lines, 33 & 34 (just to be safe) it didn't work, so perhaps I have the wrong port.

How do I figure out what port a particular extension is on?
Posted By: chrislebeck Re: NEC Electra Pro 2 analog lines - 09/28/04 05:30 PM
in program 4-10 you can see the port/ext assignments

follow steps 1 & 2

type in 10 on the keypad

hit conference to scroll thru the ports/exts

speaker to get out

-------------------------------------
you know the analog ports are starting on port 33 from 7-1
Posted By: CoreyCoop Re: NEC Electra Pro 2 analog lines - 09/28/04 05:42 PM
I was right (almost), 34 is the one I want, and when I go in and do what you said it doesn't work. When I go back in, all the lights on all 16 linekeys are lit green (I also tried red) but the phone never rings when the outside line rings. I also notice that none of the linekey lights are lit for any of the rest of our digital phones, but maybe they are programmed to ring in a different way?

Any other things to try?
Posted By: chrislebeck Re: NEC Electra Pro 2 analog lines - 09/28/04 07:52 PM
are there any phones that ring?????

what's in 3-42 & 3-43?

get into programming
instead of linekey4 press linekey3
transfer
42 on keypad
display should show 01/42 dit=???

is there a ??? or is it blank? conference to go thru all 16 co ports

Were you able to resolve this issue?

I had trouble posting a reply to this board, so Chris and I took it off line. So far we've exchanged 6 emails or so each, and I've given him all the info he's been able to think to ask for, but our system seems to be non-standard in some way, and he has not been able to figure it out.
Frankly I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell you the problem, except that everything seems to be programmed to extension 300, but we can't find extension 300 anywhere. Something like that anyway.

Let's this has been going on for a couple of weeks. Doesn't your time mean anything to you?
Why are you so willing to dismiss your telecom vender? You said you don't want to pay him all that money to come on site & punch a few keys. By this time it would have seemed like money well spent.

I tried, he said it was impossible.

it's not impossible..........it's just a little tougher via email!

it's in there somewhere i'm trying to get it dug out!
