*I'm new to phone programming and I'm having problems with my installation. My basic config goes like this:
0302 - set date and time.
1003 - I setup Day & Night overflow to 700, My trunks use Answer Table 1 only.
8007 - mbx 000.
1801 - Program Extension Names.
Access the System Administrator and set Instruction Message for box 000.

Problem - I call in and the phone rings 4 times, the Answer Table picks up, then instead of going to voice mail 000 the phones start ringing again then mailbox 300 picks up. I've reset the system about 20 times now using 9999 and redone the above without change in behavior. Any help would be appreciated by this newbie.

check your timeout destination in dat program 8006. default is utrf to operator ext 300. when you say answer table picks up, not sure what you meant! Do you hear the instruction greeting for mailbox 000?

I will check 8006 in the AM. Yes, I hear the instruction greeting for 000 then a pre-recorded female voice comes on says something to the effect of wait a minute, ext. 300 rings then ext. 300 voice mail picks up.

so what's the problem? That is the way it works at default. But here's something to get you going in a different direction. If you would like the instruction menu to repeat ( 000). set dat table 1 timeout funtion to GOTO 000. tell us how you want it setup so we can help further! we might need you for network support someday!!

I'm simplifying it right now by only having one Answer table for all four lines coming in. I've done this out of frustration at not being able to get the system to function like I want. Don't laugh - Initially I was trying to setup two answer tables with default mbox of 115 and 116. I then used 1701 to map a key to these boxes so that the lady that checks the boxes could see when new msgs came in.

Ideally - I need the first two lines for answer table 1 and the second two lines for answer table 2. An incoming call on any line rings all 4 lines and if no one picks up then the corresponding answer table states "Thanks for calling, dial the extension if you know it or leave message in general mailbox". So I set, box 000 for Answer Table 1 and box 002 for Answer Table 2. I won't have any night/day mode this will just be a continuous setup. From what I've read this should be close to the default setup except for the addition of answer table 2. My problem is that the incoming calls don't seem to be going to box 000 or 002 they make it to the instruction menu, female voice states wait, then rings 300, then 300 voice mail. I can't seem to find what's making it goto 300 even after I reset 9999 and rebuild. I'll try that 8006 you recommended and post if it resolves it.

Are you using the programming software? If not I recommend using it. It puts all of your settings in front of you in balck and white and you can "see" what is going on.

Let me back up to what you stated above though. Is the system supposed to dump box 000's messages into Extension 300's box? If so, How could I modify it so that the messages for boxes 000 and 002 dump into separate boxes (Say 115 and 116) that I can map a message center button to. If I'm doing this the hard way just let me know.

I've got the interface cable ordered. The software is downloaded and hopefully will make things easier for me to see the big picture.

Issue Resolved - 8008 I setup DAT 1 digit 0 to 315 and timeout to 315, duplicated DAT 1 info for DAT 2 w/ 316. 0301 set # of operators to 2 315 & 316. 8007 copy information from Answer Table 1 to Answer Table 2. Thanks for the info, I'm starting to piece this thing together now but I'm still overwhelmed w/ the amount of functionality built into this system.

Just looking at the sofware not connected to the system gives you a jist of what it can do. Each setting in the software shows the porgram number, you canlook up the program number in the book to see what it does. It will give you a head start befor the cable comes.
