I have a buddy that is looking at getting an NEC Elite IPK II system.

Configuration is going to be a 6x10 with maybe 2-3 IP Phones.

I'm not familiar with NEC's products so I figured I would ask here. Are there any known issues with this system that I should have him ask his vendor about? Is it near it's EOL with NEC? Are upgrades fairly reasonable?

The vendor seems reputable and all that. Just trying to help him make a more informed decision.

If the vendor knows what they are doing, the system is awesome. Make sure the vendor is certified on the IPK II and you’re golden.

DO NOT GET the InMail. Ask for the EliteMail.

This system will be around for a long time.

How do you know if the installer is certified or not?

If any company becomes a dealer or re-seller for NEC they are required to attend classes for certification, If the tech or techs are not certified NEC support will not help. This is no different than the other big manufactures.
