Hello,

I have recently installed IPK2 system with 48 digital and 10 IP phones using the PVA card with MG 16. The IP phones run off a voice dedicated Wifi system.

The problem is when the receptionist or others transfers an external call to an IP phone, the transfered extension user can hear the caller but the caller can't hear the extension user. This problem happens several times a day to different users.

I have just updated mg16 software pkg, but no go. I'm still waiting to see if updating IP handset to 1.31 will help.

Anyone know of this problem?

Thanks for letting me join this forum!
This fault does not occur when the call is announced and the station user presses the CO key to answer the call. But the customer does not want to operate this way Grrr. :bang:
Are you sharing voice and data? If so the times when it will not transfer there might be heavy data traffic.
Are using analog trunks? NEC recommends only using IP phones with digital trunking such as a PRI.
Originally we had both voice and data run together on the same wifi, however we had too many problems, so we then put the voice on its own wifi & separate switches etc. The two sites are only 40m from each other with direct line of site. I know NEC also doesn't recommend using wifi for the link but of course I'm the meat in the sandwich and am told to install it. Maybe it is the wifi; perhaps a dedicated point-to-point data link from Telstra is the only way. I would hate to do this and still have the fault.

The site is using 7 ISDN onramps. I updated all the IP phones to software v1.31 yesterday but the fault still exists. Thinking of updating the site to the new release v2000 software next week, maybe that will iron out the bug.
Problem seems fixed.

I have had only one call drop out since updating phone software (thats why originally I didn't think the upgrade worked), and that was last friday, so it looks like the problem is fixed. :toast:
Thanks for the update
Just another update;

I find that every now and then the Dlink wifi locks up and then the PVA card locks up and needs re booting, especially if there has been heavy rain. Its just a bit annoying to have to reset PVA card. This happens about once a month.
My advice to people considering voip over wifi, Don't do it!!
To me there are to many variables of interference when using wifi for voice.
