I have an Electra Elite 48 with some DTU16D phones. For some reason the four triangle keys on top have stopped working. The keys right under the display. They won't function on any of the phones in the office. Maybe they're called softkeys? I'm not sure.

As a result when someone logs in to check voicemail we have no idea what to do! The screen shows us options, but it just sits there and eventually says "Remember, 1 for yes, 2 for no".

That's fine if we can use number keys, but we don't know all the keys to press. Like for example after we listen to a voicemail I don't know what key deletes it.

My problem is right now I need to login as administrator (Amy Ronk) and delete a voicemail box. There's a phone in our office that is unused and it's flashing because someone accidentally left a message on it's voicemail.

How do I make those keys work again? I really don't want to call a technician if I don't have to.

You can reboot the Elitemail card to clear this, however, it will happen again. It sounds like you have a bad Q version on the Elitemail & you will need a technician to upgrade this for you.
I have no idea how to reboot anything.. thanks for the help. I'll just call the technician who helped us out last time.

What I should have said above is there is an on/off switch on our Electra Elite 48, but I'm not sure if it's safe to turn it off and on. I don't want to lose anything.

Inside the KSU of the elite48 (under the beige plastic cover) are circuit board slots 3-7. Typically the voicemail card is mounted in slot 7 and had a yellow or orange tag attached to it.

On this board, just under the white tab at the top of the card is a very small black up/down slider switch. To reset your VM card, push this switch down and wait about a minute or so. Then pull up on the white plastic tab to pull the card out of the slot towards you about an inch or so. This will remove any power to the card and give you a clean startup.

With your thumbs at the top and bottom of the card, push the card back into place firmly, so it snaps back in. Then slide the small black switch back up. The HDD light towards the bottom of the card should flicker off and on to show drive activity. After anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes the voicemail system should be booted back up and be online. Try a call in and check to see if your softkeys are functional.

If you do reset the phone system, make sure you wait at least 1 minute for the Elitemail drive to stop before you power the system back up!
We had a tech come out. He did the exact Doghart recommended. Thanks for the info. Wish I'd have seen it before hand.

I was thinking of turning the switch that sits through the beige case on/off. That's probably power for everything. Good thing I didn't touch that.

This guy was very good.. our system was one of the first he ever working on when he was getting his certification some 15 or 16 years ago.
