I'm trying to have a DS2000 w/intramail screen incoming calls for FAX tone and if it's not present route the call to a particular extension (or VM if the ext is not answered).

Trunk is set to direct termination to 700 with no overflow. Answer table is set to table 3. Intramail is set to FAX ext 316. Answer table 3 routes all calls to mailbox 4. Routing mailbox 4 is set to detect fax tone, and to use action table 5 with a timeout of 3 seconds. Action table 5 allows #xxx and a T/O to UTRF ext 305.

Very rarely does a FAX get transferred to ext 316. Almost all FAX calls go directly to ext 305. It doesn't matter if there is a greeting recorded in routing mailbox 4 or not. I've played with the T/O up to 10 seconds and that doesn't appear to matter either.

I know there is a restriction on using ext 316 when using an external VM system. Could I be having an issue along these lines when trying to use it in this manner?

Any thoughts and/or help would be appreciated.

Your main greeting may be recorded too loudly or quickly so it can't "hear" the cng tone. Try re-recording the greeting to see it it makes any difference. You may want to put a second or 2 of pause at the beginning of the greeting.

Tried a new geeting as suggested. No dice.

I'm wondering if this Intramail card just can't see the signalling.

We've had repeated issues with the intramai detecting fax tone. Throw in a stick and the problem goes away. smile

What number of rings do you have your fax set to answer?

In 8004, do you have the fax extension 316 set?

3. But that isn't the issue. The call never gets transferred to that extension.

And 316 is entered as the FAX extension.

I'm swapping out the Intramail CF tomorrow to see if that helps.

Stupid question....after all this programming, did you "toggle" the power?

No, as a matter of fact I haven't. I'll give it a try before I swap cards and see if it helps.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid questioners.

Heh.

I had a DS 2000 that certian things would not "take" unless set programmed and power set. Shades of the old Toshibas.

Just call me "Stupid".....

If you have been programming vie the system admin try using the phone method, there are issues with system admin showing changes on your screen but when you look it up using the phone the changes are not there.
