I have an NEC Aspire S system. I recently posted about how to add one VoIP phone at a remote location on the property. The cost of a VoIP media gateway of 700 plus a phone is cost prohibitive for just adding one phone. Any of you guru techs know of another way to get a remote phone connection to the office Aspire S system? Any help , input or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You could use an analog station off of the Aspire to a linksys device that will send the analog dial tone to a remote user.

Thanks DrPBX. That type of setup would just provide the remote user to one line access, right? No call transferring or access to any other lines?

In theory it would be an extension off of your system, like any other phone.

You could use a Quintum or MultiTech gateway and hang an analog ext of the Aspire.. you would still have access to all the feature set albeit you would have to use feature codes and flash to do anything.. The only way to get the Aspire feature set.. dss/blf virtual extensions.. message waiting etc would be to use the aspire gateway card.. yeah it's 700 bucks and you need a vpn tunnel to make it work but keep in mind the system is like 5 or 6 year old architecture thats they way they did things.. your best bet is to find a dealer and use the gateway card

The softphone is worth considering. Still need the gateway card but cheaper than the cost of a 34 button IP phone and all the features of a system phone...
