Hello all, I have a Customer with an SV8300 3.0 Software 2 Cab. And they are running 32 Fax Machines Through Single Line Extensions. They're running into all types of Problems. Do You think that's to Many to Send through the CPU?

What type of trunks are these going in/out on?

PRI, T-1, POTS?

(3)PRI's with DID's.

PRI's and faxes are not a good match, with your existing setup I don't see a fix.

With 32 fax machines why not a fax server?

They don't want to spend that kind of Money,I Suggested that they Get another PRI and have the Provider Break it out on a Channel bank (Analog) and pull 23 of them off the Switch. Leave the rest (Least Used) on the System.

Your suggestion of a 2nd PRI will solve the problem but at a extra monthly cost. If your customer could see the savings after the fax server is paid of may help them move in that direction. If the system is equip with the UM8000 your that much closer to the fax server.

Are these real PRI's delivered on a T-1, or Voip PRI's being delivered on an HDSL or similar 1 pair circuit?

I have several 8300's and 8100's using faxes off of analog ext's and don't have any issues with "real" PRI's.

If these are coming in on HDSL, sometimes the carrier can setup specific DID numbers to be uncompressed on an inbound call to that specific DID, then you have to have a few channels dedicated for outbound for faxes that are uncompressed. That way when a fax dials out it always hits that uncompressed group of channels.

PITA, but it works.
