Hi Everyone,

I am wondering does the Electra Elite and Dterm Series
E use tip and ring codes to work like the Nortel Norstar 616? I recently got this system and it uses tip and ring. Wondered if this same setup with the NEC pbx would power and make the Dterm Usable. Got an RJ11 breakout box with a CAT3 Amphenol cable. Please let me know if this is what I need. Also..... How do external lines connect to the Electra? Can I connect it by an external RJ11 Jack?

Thanks.

Um... Tip and Ring codes?

All phones use the same color codes for pairs, if that's what you mean.

See those two connectors on the Elite motherboard that look like the hookup on the back of a parallel printer? Well, those are called "Amphenol" connectors. An Amphenol cable goes on that. It has 50 wires on it, in 25 pairs. Those wire pairs each match to a card and circuit on the elite.

You really either need a manual or some paid help from a professional.

Yes That's what I mean. I have a manual that I downloaded from the Internet. NO, I do not need help because I love playing with technology in my free time. I am trying to learn more about telephone systems. I think they are very interesting. However, you still did not ask my question of how to connect external CO lines. The manual does a terrible job if you are not familiar with the system. Please tell me if you know. There is no reason to be getting upset with me. I am just a curious person trying to learn more. That's why I turned to the community. smile
