Thanks for all the info. Guess I'll start learning the SL1100.
I've installed NEC DSX-40 since 2006, nine years. Contacted NEC and they said SL 1100 now. SL 1100 replacing DSX-40. I will have to get up-to-date with the SL 1100 too ? The systems are totally different. Have to learn the SL 1100. Studying it so far, you can see why NEC wants to go with the SL 1100. It's more up-to-date. Have to learn not only a totally different phone system in SL 1100 but have to learn the new voice mail from NEC too, the InMail, instead of the Intramail I know on the DSX-40 and DSX-80. Sometimes, I have customers with 2 sites, and honestly, it's pretty nice to intercom between them. Has anyone done that on the SL 1100 yet ? I am confused too about the new 12 and 24 button phones on SL 1100 compared to the 22-button on old DSX-40 ? I have a lot to learn. But, like you say, when it's $ 100 less for the new SL 1100 package compared to the old DSX-40, it is clear NEC wants me to install SL 1100. They have a seminar I'm going to on SL 1100. I don't guess they do seminars on the 9-year old DSX-40 anymore ? This is a good topic for me. Thank you for all your discussion here. The hard disk drive in the DSX-40 has always been a concern in that 9-year old design. What does the SL 1100 have ? All Flash Memory, like everyone else now ?
