Anybody experience bad calls that voice breaks up. Never actually loose calls, but breaking up like a cellular call. Have only put in two of these systems only one customer is complaining so far.
How is dial tone being provided ?
Are these analog lines? Have you done the analog line side tone adjustment?
Analog lines. Have not done analog side tone adjustment. What exactly is that?
If you look at the SL1100 Quick Start Guide, it's called "Side Tone Auto Setup for Analog Trunks."
Ok i found the quick start guide will go to site and try it out.
Thanks
Take a look at loop current too
Did the side tone auto setup. Completed with no luck calls still breaking up. where should the loop current be?
measured loop current came back at -29.6 ma
-29.6ma idle
-11.9ma off hook
First,is the call on the Handset ? or Speakerphone ?
I was thinking 20 ma.at station would be a normal reading.
You are reading 29.
On hook would be no (0) loop current.
Off hook ideal would be 23 to 27 ma.
see:
https://www.sandman.com/loopcur.htmlIf lines come from a Provider Router, most can adjust this in line build out.
I just installed a used SL1100 for a customer. Switched from a PRI to a 4-port analog trunk. Two of the phone users complain of audio cutting out on all calls - the rest of them (3 others) do not.
Does this sound like a similar deal? I am looking for suggestions on where to check to figure out what is happening....
Thanks!
Talked with some of the other people at customer site and they don't seem to be having any issues. Will get back with the secretary when she comes back in from vacation. In the mean time will go ahead with install at second site and see how that one progresses. Interesting to note, now when I try to do analog side tone it comes back and says error? Also the loop current was measured at the demarc before the system with a dynatel 965.
I've found the error message will occur if any of the phone lines are in use while running the adjustment. Try again with all lines idle.
I am having the same issue with analog trunks. Almost like it's not full duplex you hear it cut out so you can speak and it doesn't come back fast enough to catch the other party.

Just got snapped up on that one. The system would mute momentarily and the outside party would hear a DTMF tone.
First call ever to NTAC trying to figure this one out.

Exactly how I found out how to fix it!! Pulling my hair out then NTAC rescued my brain!!
Are these true copper analog lines or are they coming off an IAD of some sort? You did the 90-68-01 for each line? Don't do a copy as each line is different.
Click the link below and you must restart the system once you complete the calibration.

I just put in a new SL1100 with the same issue. I did the side tone adjustment - to no avail. So, will try the 14-02-24 and see what comes of it.
Thanks!
I tested mine with a test set at the demarc and had the same issue. Have a meet tomorrow with cable company to test loop current. Will advise.
So my issue was primarily phone service related. Customer says they still hear it slightly so I am going to stop there and run 90-86 to see if it helps after the lines have been fixed. Very weird that so many of us have this issue. I have a meeting with Gordon from NEC on Wednesday and will bring it up to him.
