Hello all!
I have been trying to find a bit of reassuring info on if TW SIP lines work well with the DSX and SL1100. I know there are certified white papers for many others ,But no program info to follow thru and program this TW/Spectrum company.would any of you have done much with this company and willing to share with me some input? this has just started in my area and now there contacting my older base DSX and Sl1100 customers.
thanks in advance! Ron

I did it on a DSX40 not too long ago. No there isn't any white paper for TW, but NTAC assured me it would work and yes it does. The set up was unusual in that the DSX does not go through the local LAN but through a direct connection that TW provides. Because of that, they will need to provide you with an IP address for the DSX as well as an address to point to. Also make sure you have the absolute latest software available before proceeding. In the DSX there was a flaw that blocked international calls. The upgrade fixed it.
One last note, the customer I installed this for is dropping TW because of outages and technical issues.
Put on your crash helmet, you may need it.

NTAC didn't give me much, but then again they didn't think it was a big deal either. It was set for generic sip, and as I recall, I did have to create a profile(?) for it. Trunks had to be set for DID and a translation table had to be created just like a PRI. You also have to consider changing the trunk group and feature keys as needed. This was my one and only TW SIP job and there was a learning curve from both TW and me. TW didn't seem to understand the DSX was a key system, not a PBX and because of that there limits as to what can be programmed ( if that makes any sense).

Ron> Thank you. that's the problem, the limitations and possible issues and doing it with old DSX equipment. So did you just set up Cap or loop keys to answer and dial out or did you make actual line buttons for say 8 ports?

The customer was old school and preferred line appearances over loop and park keys despite me advising otherwise.

I installed TWC SIP trunks on an SL1100 - wasn't too difficult as I remember, but we installed on a fiber circuit separate from the coax internet - I've heard a few issues with running SIP over coax.

they (TW) are offering it over fiber on this sale. Ken did you have any white papers for the SL1100 setup?
