I have a client with an NEC Aspire system using IP phones and a PRI from Spirit Communications using AT&T lines.

We've been chasing erratic dropped calls for months. We replaced the PoE switch that was in place that was on its way out that was contributing to issues, but the users are still complaining of dropped calls. I've been running a PRI debug for a few weeks so I can look at completion codes when users report dropped calls.

I'm trying to determine whether users are blaming people dropping calls on cell phones on us or if there's an actual hardware issue here. This is an old phone system, and most of the phones are date stamped 2003 - 2005.

This message persists in the debug, what is it?

I'd very much like to get this issue resolved as the client is tired of it, and so am I.

Are the calls dropped at remote sites or locally? Is this a true PRI or an integrated access one?

That's what we are trying to determine. Of all the dropped calls they have reported, the completion code has been 16 which is a normal disconnect code. This PRI is for voice only.

If you are getting ISDN code 16 that is a far end disconnecting the call. It's the carrier.
