I have been reading this for awhile now and I thought perhaps I'm in the minority.

Just in case here is the problem and the solution.

I had read about this particular quirk. None of the Surface devices that I either own or have access to have external memory installed. Still waiting for Microsoft to roll 1903 out to the general public.
