What is this? - 04/26/14 07:52 PM
Hello all,
I recently purchased a Merlin Legend system with 13 MLX phones and a maxed out slot carrier. It also came with some other goodies, like two 10/100 Ethernet switches, an AT&T Paging controller, and this mysterious Westell wall-mounted "thing." It appears to be, from what little Google has told me, an ADSL carrier, or at least a case where such devices can be mounted inside of and locked.
Here is the Westell technical document I get when I search the model number.

It's locked shut by one of those payphone style key locks. The auction did not come with the key.
Inside the unit are two ADC HRU-402 modules. Google tells me they appear to be high-gain ADSL modules. But they also both say DS1 on them along the left side.
Here's a photo of what they both look like: https://salestores.com/stores/images/images_747/HRU402L1.jpg
My question is really just...is there anything I can do with these? Turn them into a T1 and connect them to my Asterisk server? It would be great if I could reduce the amount of wires in my closet, considering I'm using two 2-port ATAs for my C*Net and regular SIP PSTN lines. That's four cords right there...not including the cords for all of the extensions in the house.
Thank you all for any input.
Scott
