Several weeks ago, our Comdial handsets stopped showing voicemail message information on the handsets. Voicemail is functioning fine otherwise....but the handsets do not have any indication that messages are waiting. Anybody know how to revive this feature?

I would guess that either the link between the phone system and the voicemail has been unplugged. Check Com ports on the phone switch and in the back of the voicemail system.

I had the same problem a few days ago. Required a power cycle of the DXP. After the restart the serial connection was established.

Believe it or not a BAD PHONE will cause exactly this problem. Plug your laptop into the serial port you have connected to the VM on the DXP and unplug the tails from your station cards on a one by one basis. Press <CR> on your keyboard each time (maybe a couple times fast) while you have a tail unplugged. If you bring up the programming banner reconnect the tail and then start lifting and replacing the station jumpers one at a time while pressing <CR> each time a jumper is off. There are probably not too many people left at Comdial who know this.

It could also be that the visual voicemail feature was turned off in programming. If it is turned off, nothing will appear on the display but the time.
