I have an opportunity to install a Comdial T1 with PRI Board into an existing DXP system. The current system is running software version 9B. Do I need to upgrade the software? If so, what version? I am cerified to 9B would an upgraded software give me problems with programming? Thanks in advance!

For T-1 you need 13 or higher, if you have to upgrade you should probably get the latest you can. 17a I think.

If you are just going to put in a T-1 you should be good. The T-1 support came in on Release 7.

The PRI/ISDN does not come in until release 11A.

You will also need to upgrade your DXRAM card to a DXRAM-EXPC rev.a or later. If you upgrade to 11A.

Either one of these you should be able to program with procomm or hyper term.

Hey Big,
comdial had some issues with the t-1's on software prior to 12 or 13 - I think 13. I had to change out an 11 and comdial upgraded me free (within warranty), this is going back several years so I could be mistaken. Maybe the issues were just with 10 & 11 when they switched to vmmi, I don't remember, but I know I had to do an upgrade on a vmmi switch with 11 or 12.

I believe you, I do remember someissues with the T-1 when it first came out.

I was just going by the hardware/software matrix Comdial put out.

It shows when all the features were added and what level software they wereon.

Of course they are not going to print the issues they were having!!

I will look through some tec tips and see if there is anything in there.

Yes there were some issues with T-1 in early supported versions. Incorrect line provisioning and/or duplicate line assignments may occur with 11A or earlier for T-1 and T-1 PRI. If you want a nice safe level of software that was trouble free try 15C, this is a very stable level. It may be hard to get e-proms for the DXP but I can help with the DXP plus.

One more note
if you upgrade from 9B to common code software you have to save your database at the 9 level then convert it with 10a then upgrade it to the new level.

I agree about the 15c platform build 176.00.

It by far is the most stable platform.

The rule of thumb I try to use is if its below 15c upgrade to 15c. If its above 15c upgrade to the latest release. unless you need to features that come with the newer releases.

If you want to upgrade to 15c and need software let me know. I might have a set floating around.
