After hours and AA picks up the call, I need to program a digit so they can do a CFOS ( for emergency) but instead of cfos i would rather use the phone company's off premise transfer instead of using another line due to the db loss. basically i guess be able to flash the CO, dial new number and drop off. 1. Program a mailbox you will use for the Centrex transfer with a Transfer Type as Blind, and in the Transfer To field, remove the X and replace it with the following:
,*08%(phone number).
(*08 is the feature code to flash the co line)

2. Please keep in mind if the Centrex lines you are using require you to dial an access code you will need to put the access code followed by a comma, after the % and before the phone number. For example: In the Transfer To field, for Centrex lines that require an access code of 8, you would program the following: ,*08%8,(phone number).

Let me know if you have any issues. I have this set up at a couple of different sites using the centrex feature. The hardest part is understanding the flow. You have to have the voicemail put the call on hold, dial the system feature code to flash the co line, wait for dial tone back from the telco, dial the number and then release the call.

Also make sure that you have Call Trans in your Centrex package, allot of times they will put the 3 way in and not call trans.

If you have 3 way and not call trans after the Voice Mail trans the call as BIGDOG3c posted it will just drop the call.

P.S.

Centrex transfer will only transfer an incoming call. Do not try to make an outgoing call and use the centrex transfer featue to send your call to another number.

I have seen this catch allot of poeple and yes it caught me too!!

Big Dog,
What is the significance of the blind transfer besides the phone system letting go of the call. What would happen if you left the call supervised. The reason I ask is because I posted a similar question in the voicemail forum and didn't come up with a final result. Tell me what you think.

Thanks for the help.

A Blind transfer is just that. The voicemail releases the call and the call will follow the settings of the phone system (fwd, recall, cfos ect...)

If you do not use blind the voicemail controls what happens to the call. Like the feature WAIT FOR ANSWER for example: The caller gets put on hold, the vmail calls the station but then it listens for an answer. If it does not get one, it sends the call to the mailbox greeting. This is fine, but what if you forwarded your phone off site. It would never go out of voicemail. These are the things that need to be thought about when using the different features in the vmail box.

And in addition the ports don't remain tied up when using the blind transfer versus other transfer types. This can be an issue if there are more inbound calls to the VM than available ports.
