I mentioned once before that I didn't trust PCDBA F17 and I lost three days fighting it...it wasn't my system or programming, rather it was the F17 causing the problems.

To prove to myself what was happening, I programmed two cabinets with the K17 firmware loaded using the phone and downloaded the data to two laptops running PCDBA F17.

I set the bottom row of buttons for 816 ~ 821, set some T1 DID translation tables, and directory swapped port 124 with 148. Both systems worked as expected.

I download the data to PCDBA and the buttons showed 824 ~ 829, all the translations tables were blank, and port 30 was mapped to ext. 124 and port 80 was mapped to ext. 148. When I uploaded it back into the cabinets without changing anything, it messed up what I programmed in by hand.

Found out this afternoon this was a known issue with F17 and was told to use the new L18 firmware and PCDBA L18.

You cannot use F17 DBA if you have K17 in the cabinet. Of course you will get corruption.

Not sure what you mean by "of course (you will get corruption" as I take it to mean I should have known to use a compliment PCDBA K17 when you use the K17 firmware in the cabinet.

I was not aware they released a K17 PCDBA if indeed they did.

I've been using K17 firmware and F17 PCDBA for several months with no problems, but then I never had to do translation tables or swapping.

the 17 release fixed a few problems but created a lot more.

nevtxjustin, I profusely apologize for the tone of my post. Each version of PCDBA is for a particular software release. Sometimes they add features that are not in a prior release. This in turn puts data into the wrong areas in the file which may cause minor or major corruption of the database.

TECOM usually sets up their DBA programs where a newer release of the same series will work with a prior release, IE: J18 would work with F18. Usually something like J18 will not work with any release of version 17, 16, 15, etc.

Once again, I apologize.

Good heavens, no need to apologize. Allow me to apologize if my response sounded off to you.

But honestly, I never heard of a PCDBA K17 release. If there was, I entirely missed it.

I'd love to push the new firmware to all my DX-120s out there, BUT...if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Reminds me of an old cartoon of an old man fiddling with the TV's antenna and his wife yelling, "Don't mess with it, look what happened to AT&T!"

As we say in Texas..."If it moves and it ain't supposed to, use duct tape. If it don't move and its supposed to, use WD-40."
