Was I the only person that didn't know there was different models of the Edge 120 phone?

Isn't there only one Edge 120, and then the black DX80 phone, for a total of 2 phones available for the DX80 and DX120?

The only difference I'm aware is firmware rev levels. Certain models had improved speakerphones but look the same as any other. You'd have to look at the firmware code on the bottom of the set to tell the difference.(Or talk on the speakerphone)

Im referring to the Firmware revision. There is a huge difference in quality with the diferent versions. (I think there is 3 different)

All of the phones here in the office say "1B". What do the others say??

68E was the version of enhanced speakerphone that I had.

68e sounds a lot better than 55 (sticker says 1b)the volume squeels when you turn it up too loud and the original phones (47a) were really bad

We just got a shipment in last week---the phone has a sticker on it that says "1D". Are those the 68e versions???

Yes, the original shipment phones were awful when it came to the speakerphones. The mics would cut in and out, the speakers were too loud....we ended up replacing all of them with new sets (new DX-120 phones) once they had finaly fixed the speakers. Funny though, people still prefered to have the new DX-120 phone for the looks over the DX-80 phone when given the choice after we found out about the speakers and before the replacement became available.

The new ones really work great though, and, IMHO, you cannot beat them when it comes to looks at the price! :toast:

68E is the latest revision. I've had complaints the speaker volume is rather low. I believe TECOM is trying to address a fundamental design problem in their speakerphone circuitry with firmware.

I suspect that we may well see some internal redesign. Keep in mind that TECOM systems traditionally have had rather poor speakerphones. The Vodavi DHS/PCS Digital speakerphones worked fairly well. If the Edge phone could be brought up to that level then I think we would have few complaints.

Where on the edge phones are you finding the rev level listed?

Little white sticker on the bottom of the set.

The best improvement of the DX-120 EDGE phone over the DX-80 was the RJ-11 jack in the back. I kept track and I've had to resoldered the jack back on the board on about 10% of them. The little wrap-around slot simply doesn't hold the silver satin cord in place...err, the black lien cord.

When plugging in the Edge phone before the display comes up, press Speaker,*,#,*,#. Then press Volume Down to show the firmware level of the phone

I'm not finding any sticker, just a upc code and a serial number.

and that *#*# didn't work either. Does the 120 phone need to be plugged into a 120 system? or is that supposed to work on a DX80 using the edge phone also?

i dont know if it works on the DX80, ive only tried it on the 120. If there is no sticker, the phone is probably a 47a. In order for the speaker*#*# to work you need to press speaker right when you plug the phone in.

I plugged in a DX120 EDGE phone into one of my spare DX80 boxes. Just after I plugged it in, I hit speaker and dialed *#*#. The displayed showed:
Hidden Mode
Vertical 2620-00

Ahh! I was missing the "speaker" part. I got 047A - DKT.F01 from an Edge on a DX80.

When it says hidden mode, press the volume down button to show the firmware release.

Does anyone know if a self-test can be performed, either thru this method or another?

Thanks!
