HELP! Can anyone explain why the ICM Tone Mode on our DX 80s no longer has a DOUBLE BURST notification, only a single Looong (kinda like an incoming outside line) tone??

We have recently added 1 DX-120 unit to our office.

The ICM's used to have the dbl ring, which would repeat...

Thanks

Did you upgrade your DX80 to a DX120?

No...we have 5 (existing) DX80s and DX120. It was the installation of the DX120 which seems to have started the problem...

welcome to the BB, Susan.

I am a bit confused.....the DX 80 or DX 120 are the service units that control your telephones. So did you have a new service unit installed or another telephone set installed? I will let the Comdial gurus answer the technical question but in many systems if the service unit is defaulted, the ring is a double (or European) ring for incoming lines. Here in the US we are used to the long rings for our lines and the double ring for our intercoms.

Stick around, the Comdial guys may stop by yet tonight or in the morning. You are on the West Coast and most of them are either East or Midwest.

Again, welcome , enjoy the BB, don't lose your sense of humor, and hang on and enjoy the ride.... laugh

I'm sorry, but this is not making sense to me. DX 80 and 120 are designed as systems with a maximum of 2 cabinets both DX 80 or 120 flavors. If you have something else going on you will need to be much more specific as to what that is.

Check your users guide--page 38. Feature #7 will change the distinctive ring. Intercom ringing seems to follow :

1. 1 seconds On, 3 seconds Off
or
2. 300ms On, 400ms Off, 300ms On, 4seconds Off

Okay, I think I wasn't clear enough. We have a DX 80 system.
We have 5 DX 80 phone sets (which used to have a double tone
for incoming ICM calls.) Last week, a DX 120 Edge phone set
was added to my desk. After programming the DX 120 for various features, it and the others (DX 80s) now get only 1 long tone burst for incoming ICM in the Tone Ring Mode. This sounds like an incoming CO call and the staff wants to go back to the old 2-tone
burst. I am only in the office on Mon-Tues-Wed so will check the user guide rings again, but I think I've already tried that. Thanks, everyone for your continued advice.

Ahha, now I get it. What JW said should do it. The ringing is from the system, the phone model has no control over the ring cadence.
