I have a site that is connected via PTP T1 with Adtran Netvanta 3200 routers, sharing Voice and data over the same pipe. Thia site has worked for YEARS, until about 2 months ago.

The Node started having a popping noise on a call. and they could not send or recieve faxes.

I have replaced both routers, both DXNET cards, Both Aux cards, sync cards, AT&T has Stress tested the T1 and it came through with flying colors.

We have phones at both cabinets where we can initiate a call and listen to the pop while watch the slip error led on the Hub DXNET card. Every slip = a pop.

I have gone so far as to replace the power supply and ring generator in the Node as it is the one that controls the timing for the network link.

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill Mc.

If this is a constant problem I would still suspect telco. To prove it you'll need to loop up each DXP one at a time and use the other DXP or the Adtran to check for errors. If errors are seen then loop at each smart jack. I would also disable the data channels. One thing to remember about PTP is they are not truly PTP. Several CO's could be involved here.
You can also do some programming and call yourself at each switch while looped up!

Have you changed the services cards on both systems?
