Just got an e-mail from long time customer. I dialed into his backdoor ---4 rings---AA---dialed an extension---I immediately hear MOH. No rings. That's it. Tried it again with 3 other extensions---same result.

This just started happening, they think, about two days ago. I'm scheduling myself to go there tomorrow, but wondered if anyone has a clue as to what has happened here. I have in my mind to do a de-frag and a cold restart, but that's all I can think of right now. We're talking about a DX120--F20 with a 4 port Flash 7271C. They have two cabinets, but have re-sized and moved part of their company---so only have 6 or 7 extensions. I've kept the 2nd cabinet going, because they wanted to keep some of the older (higher numbered) extensions.

Check the transfer to field in the voice mail. I have seen if hackers try and get in they change that firld and it will do as you describe.

Just got back from customer's location.

I did a check of VM programming (transfer fields all were "Blind") and check everything I could think of. Did a cold restart of the system. Tested--no change. I kept calling in and noticed that the phones (in a UCD) were still ringing when the VM/AA answered. Even as I listened to the AA---any ringing phone could still pick up the call. We then reset all of the Comcast EMTAs. I checked with one line--and changed it to be answered by 433 instead of the UCD. Worked---and could be transferred to an extension. I changed all the other lines--and they worked too. I left and will monitor it over the weekend and then do some changes in the ringing Monday morning first thing---or do it remotely. I don't know for sure what solved the problem...but at this stage of the game---I don't care. Thanks, Jim for the tip about the transfer to field.

Was the transfer to field set to X. Glad you got it going.

Yes it was. Everything in the MBs and in the RBs looked just fine.

The oddest thing was the continual ringing of the UCD phones even though the AA had picked up---AND that the phones could pick up the call at that time. The AA voice just stopped.

It was then that I reset the EMTAs and made the Ans Pos 433 both for day and night. Over the weekend I'll do some checking and make some small changes. I think I'll use another UCD group for day ring---I don't want to change the programming for the one that I have been using---I want to see if maybe that was the problem. Seems odd, though---because that UCD & it's programming has been working for many years. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
