Is it possible to have the day mode auto answer like the night mode does? I am trying to setup my system to auto answer when the company is closed for the holidays and last year I had everything working except when the system goes back to day mode the customer never hears the message. I already know how to record new messages for both boxes I just need to know how to put the system into auto answer and then back to non-auto answer when we get back..

Thanks
Neil

you would have to change the ringing to go right to the auto attendant when in day mode. That would be a pain to go back and forth.

You can record greetings 0 through 9 in both day and night, so you could have a second or third greeting in night mode to reflect the day to day situation, it's easier to frog from greeting to greeting then mess with the ringing. Then you can put it in night for immediate answer and have whatever greting play. Does this help?

Mark,
Thanks for replying. I am not that familiar with this system. I only play around with it when we need something changed and unfortunately I am the only IT related person in the company. Is there an easy way to set the system up so that when we are on Holiday shutdown no matter if its day or night the customer gets the same greeting that we are shut down? Right now I just change the greeting in box 800 and 801 ( Alt message 1 ) to the holiday greeting. In the evenings that works fine but during the day it just rings here. Thanks for your help.

Your going to need a telephone tech who knows the key voice system. If you do what I said above and put a new greeting ( a second greeting) in both 800 and 801 then you can do it yourself with the supervisors guide. A tel tech could build a holiday greeting and put dates in that would need to be changed every year.

You may be missing one point; the day night button does not affect what greeting plays, that's based on the times set in key voice, it only affects how the system rings - to phones or to the auto attendant. If you don't have a day night button programmed, you should, the button would over ride the VM automatic time settings.

I do have a day/night mode button on the main phone. So if when I leave for the holiday I put this system into Night Mode it will not turn off this until I come back and hit that button again? If I remember correctly I did this before in the past and when the system was programmed to go back to day made it just switch it back regardless if I had hit the night button or not. Thanks for your help on this I do appreciate it.

The night button does not control the time of day or invoke a specific greeting. As Mark said, it only controls the ringing of the telephones (ringing a receptionist live versus answering by auto attendant).

Manually changing the greetings in 800 and 801 to the holiday greeting should keep that greeting playing until you manually switch it back. Pressing the night button before you left would just ensure that all calls are answered by voicemail instead of ringing X times before voicemail answered during the day.

Again, your best bet would be to find a dealer that can set up a holiday schedule for you. That way you only have to provide a list of holidays for the whole year and it would do it automatically. If you decided to close early on a day, you would change the greeting manually that day and change it back when you returned.
