I'm looking for a couple electronic TT dial pads for 2500 type phones. WEco, ITT, SC are fine, just as long as they aren't the old mechanical pads. I have 2 mechanical pads that are just a *little* past their time. The pad in my adjunct box for my spacesaver is sticking and my 2564 set is just making some wacky sounds.

Why don't you just clean the contacts on the sides and the back of the pads? Those things are fairly bullet proof. No need to use anything abrasive on the contacts. A little bit of aerosol contact cleaner applied to a business card sandwiched between the closed contacts and slid back and forth should be all that you need.

What's your opinion of "a little past their prime"? I have DTMF phones with original 25- and 35-type mechanical dials that have been working properly for 40 years with no adjustments or cleaning.

I didn't even know they could be cleaned. I'll give it a shot. Still wouldn't mind having a spare or two. They are 35 types. Specifically 35AF3A.

To answer your question, Arthur, one of them sticks and makes the same dtmf tone no matter which button you push, not all the time, but enough to want to do something about it, the other works ok, not great, but decent. It gives you just a single tone and not dual tone once in a while. Both of these were in a pile of misc phone stuff I bought off craigslist from the son of a retired Bell man. The stuff had been sitting in sheds, garages and basements for years and have suffered for it. The electronic pads were DOA but the mechanicals even having some minor corrosion at least work. Albeit not great.

I agree that you should get rid if any that are mechanically stuck. Probably the victim of spilled Coke and years of dust.

Cleaning that one helped considerably, to my surprise, but I agree. I'd just like some new(er) ones.
