Hello.

I was wondering what type of cable you needed to interface a computer to the SMDR and PCMMC software?

Do you need a standard Serial cable that you can find at any radio shack or do you need something more specialized?

I hooked up a standard serial cable and I can't get my PCMMC software to connect to the system!

Thanks.

So this is not your standard serial printer cable but more of a specialized custom build cable needed for this?

Do you normally make your own cable or buy them from a store?

Another idea is maybe I connect the PCMMC software via the LAN port on the back of the computer directly to the LAN port on the iDCS 500? Is this a possibility?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks.

Yes you can program with the Lan port.
Do you use a standard LAN cable or do you need a special type of cable?

Thanks.

I normally make up my own cables.
As for the lan cable - if you connect directly then it is a cross-over.If you use a switch/hub and is part of a network - Lan or Wan then it is a "normal" cable.make sure that the IP and Gateway settings on the PC/Laptop and the PBX is correct!!!
Otherwise-NO GO
