I have a new customer with a R2 100 ver. 2.44 that is having problems faxing through the switch. They are using PRI and the card is ver. 4.14, which is a new version card that I haven't seen until now. The fax is connected to a 2sli board. The problem is that when they fax through the switch the speed to send/receive is 75-80 seconds per page. On a pots line that they have there its about 20-25 seconds per page. Not sure what to try here as we have lots of customers that fax through samsung's with pri's and no problems.
I seem to remember that a single line is limited in speed to (I think and don't quote me) 22K, so if they have a fax that will work at 56K, you will get about 40% of that speed on the 100.

Older faxes used to max out at 14K but now that the new version faxes can talk to each other much faster, the Samsung looks crippled in speed. I would guess that is the problem. And, if you are sending to an old 14K machine, the speed would be identical on the POTS and the 100.

Why bother, the cost saving is helping you. Are you making/receiving that many faxes? Don't forget Telco's only support 96k. ??????

Is there ECM on the fax?

For starters pots are ok to 9600 baud. anything after that is a freebee. The pri's are 64k channels that have to be broken down for voice. Some time back there was a post on channels and why modems and faxes dont work well on them. I dont know were it is now though. Either way it's mute.

The problem is that the fax is not negotiating at the speed it thinks it is were as the other end just keeps resending thinking its negotiating at a constant speed. Its a break down in two places. first the system then the co were the pri is converted twice.
