Got a customer site where they want to use BGM on IP phones for right or for wrong and the levels change regularly.

They have the BGM on the key sets turned up fairly high on the key set volume control which is providing fairly low level BGM then an incoming trunk call comes in and the BGM goes really loud.

Haven't changed LIU as I figure it is system related / LIU was fine on old system with digital key sets.

System config

7200S 4.53
OAS / MGI
SMT 3105's and 5230's
PSTN trunks

Any ideas?

There is an issue with acending volume on bgm with the i310x's.

Havn't seen it with i5230's but i then again i have never tried.

I have reported this to samsung and heard nothing back.

I now have some new 31xx software which is meant to rectify this.

We are now pretty sure that it is only the 3105 that had the problem so this is good news.

I'm dissapointed with the all the bugs in the SMT series handsets (5220 was the worst).
I would like to get a copy of this firmware

Only ever had the problem with the missed calls and the BGM. As for playing the BGM never really have that as an issue as most sites don't use it. As soon as they realise the site needs licencing to play live radio they ditch it.

Theansweris2 - SMT-i5220 running less then 2.12 (maybe 2.10) firmware on SPNET or SIP trunks (never tried H323) the DTMF doesn't work (can't select AA menu options).

Missed call notification as you've already said (still not 100% fixed in SMT-i5220 at least)

Thanks for that. 5220 not a common phone here usually 10's and 5's. Note taken Cheers probably in tech bulletin. but hey we know where they go!!

Just consider this (though I've not tried it in practice!)

Wont BGM to IP handsets use MGI resource whilst the music is playing? Surely BGM is a TDM signal and to convert to IP will need MGI?

Then again you have OAS in the system so you may have enough resources??

This site has more than enough MGI channels.

Customer had BGM on old system and didn't want to ditch it.

No more complaints with new 3105 firmware.
