We have an OS7400 at a customers site. Approx once a month, we are forced to reboot the entire system as we can not get to the IP address on the MP40. We have ruled out everything NETWORK related. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are there any errors in the system log?

I have had this as a once off on a 500R2 and 7200 MCP, both were once off occurrences (the 7200 mcp had to have it's ip re-entered before i could connect via lan).

I did also have this once on a 100R2, changing the ip address fixed it (never figured out what the cause was)

What exactly do you mean by "can't get to the IP address"? You can't ping it, use the web interface, can't use the programming tool? Is the system still functional? Little more detail will help, but if it still responds to a ping but nothing else it might be a bad/flakey sd card/slot. I've seen some bad ones on the 7000 series switches, that sometimes just a few rapid reseats of the SD card solves the problem.

Thanks for the replies nameless & MichaelV....When I say I cant get to the IP address, I mean it fails to connect using IT Tool. I can ping the MP40 and it replies as expected. If I unplug the patch cord, as expected it times out. The system seems to function properly, although this time, the conf card went undefined (first time with this issue). A reboot always seems to take care of it
