Customer has a UCD group. UCD is supposed to go to VM if no one answers. This was not working when i arrived. I "fixed" it by adding the UCD station group number "5002" into the Forward Trunk section of the menu block in the voicemail(SVM-20e). Now 5002 forwards to VM, the digits 5002 get sent to the correct VM after I had programmed it. Huzzah.

I then placed MW keys on the UCD members phones. The MW keys point to 5002. When someone presses their MW key, it wants to to leave a message in that box, instead of having you enter a password, which I want. I tried pointing the MW keys to the actual VM box(x1741)in stead of 5002, When I do that, it will allow me to enter a password, but I dont get MWI (and it seems to be going to a different box) How can I fix this?

A little info please. It appears you may be taking a message in mailbox 1741 then forwarding the message to 5002?

Call comes in, goes to UCD(5002), UCD goes for 15 seconds, then goes to VM,then goes to the Menu block, which on a no entry condition goes to mailbox 1741. Phones currently have MW of 5002.

DOes a UCD have its own mailbox? Perhaps that is where i made my mistake There is a mailbox 5002, but it does not come up when I point the no-entry condition to it.

So the messages are in mailbox 1741.So if you have a MW5002 it's never going to work. Maybe your easiest solution would be to forward the messages to mailbox 5002 from 1741.

Or maybe change the MW key to MW 1741?

John I tried using a MW of 1741. It works for accessing the box (it asks for a password) but it does not show MWI.

pvj I may have made my usual mistake of trusting the customer. They said it was 1741. There is a 5002 box, maybe I can auto forward them from 5002 to 1741?

It sound like the MW key is supposed to have MWI of someone eles box and to monitor, correct?

If you check mailbox 1741 in block table what does it say for message waiting?

Sorry to be late but did you ever get this resolved?
I kind of ran into something similiar and your solution may be the same.To get the MW button to light up,make those extensions with the MW key members of the group.Ie if you are using MW5002 make the extensions you want the light to work on members of group 5002.

The MW key should flash regardless of group membership (assuming the mbx is configured with the correct MWI settings)

The VG key required the extension to be in the group.

I've seen the MWI switched off in the VM cause issues (like John0807 said).

This happens when you change from announce only MBX back to normal MBX it doesn't change the MWI option back to yes.

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago on a 7100 with 4.92 where I was using a mailbox like 502 as a general mailbox.Would work fine ie press the MW502 button and get prompted for password but the light wouldn't work until I put the 2 phone extensions into the 502 group as members.Soon as I added them as members it worked fine, didn't change anything else.
