Hi Folks,

Looking for a bit of advice. What kind of ratio for stations to MGI channels do you like for predominantly IP systems. For example, I have a request in for a site that has a PRI and is looking at about 100 sets. What configuration of OAS or MGI64 cards would you suggest?

Thanks in advance,

1 per trunk is what i used to say
Unless they want internal paging, but with multicast paging that's not an issue.
What's the vm? Svmi20i?

It'll be SVMI, yes.

So, 23 channel pri. 100 stations and voicemail.

7200 with a SVMi20i, 2xOAS, and TEPRIa?

Would that be enough?

Are all handsets local at the same site?

Ip phone talking to ip phone locally don't use mgi or mps channels.

Hence 1 per trunk. The svmi20i is an ip vm so from memory it'll use mps if available.

2 x oas should be fine. That'll give you 32 mgi channels for your pri lines which is more than you need.
Plus a heap of mps channels.

Not much room for expansion on the 7200. What are their plans (if any) for expansion?

They won't likely move beyond the 128 capacity.

I'd say go with the 2 OAS... Easier for expansion cause you already have it plus more cost effective.

No real choice if using the OS7200, the MGI64 is only for OS7100 and OS7400.
I don't know if MGI16 card's are still sold in the US or not, that's your only other option, but then you don't get MPS.

I think the MGI16 is still sold here, but the OAS card is cheaper and gives you more resources. Here we can only use the MGI64 in either a 7200 and 7400 because of the time channel slots. 7100 doesn't support the 64 smile

Tithe got that the wrong way. The 7100 has the 64 time channel slots.
Strange as it is. You can put a mgi64 and a tepri60 in the 7100 at the same time.

What? Here they only have 32 time slots in ours. Ain't that some bs lol

All the manuals for the OS7200 say it has 3 x 32bit slots in the main cabinet, and 1 x 32 bit in the expansion
