Help,
We are getting hundreds of ghost call from numbers like 1999401197792072 and 11110119779207250
Can I block them?
Thanks,
Brian Kinney
What kind of service do you have? Sip, Analog, PRI?
I think it's Sip.
The kind of calls are called "Ghost Calls†and that happens when there are packets of data left in the telephone system. Those calls never come to our network as they are internal to you and your telephone system, However, your PBX technician should be able to rectify the issue very easily by either restricting the calls or send any calls with the matching call ID to an empty extension within the system and that way will never bother you again. Please let me know if there is any other question I can answer for you today.
Uummm... Did you just answer your own question?
Yes.
The company that handled our phone system has closed down. They did email the answer but I need help on how to do it.
What software version is the system?
Sounds like you are using a older version software, it's needs to be above 4.70 to stop calls from unrecognised IP addresses.
This may be a dumb question but how do I find the software version?
If you're looking at the system through DM it's at the bottom of the border. Next to the system IP and type.
I have OLD software - how do I update it?

Hi,
"Ghost calls" usually may happen in for several reasons. One of them is that you left port 5060 opened in your firewall or router to your PBX. There are different scanners, probably malicious, running on internet looking for security flaws.
Other reason may be is that you have IP phones. You have to restrict accept IP´s in IP Phones settings to receive calls only from your SIP provider IP.

Tomas
