Hi All,

One of my clients recently had all their PoTS lines cut due to NBN (after a particular major telco forgot to tell them)

Anyway, we got them up on a SIP Trunk quickly and they can make a receive calls.

Since changing to the SIP Trunks, they say that they can't transfer calls any longer and that the answering machine (which is just a SLI extension) isn't answering the calls after hours.

Is there anything different with the Dial Plans on SIP trunks? I assumed it would all just go the same way and follow the existing routing setup.

I can't get to site currently to look as I'm in Sydney and they're in Perth,

Sip trunk routing is done the same as isdn by default.
Ie uses the did table.
Program the phone numbers into the did table and then set the correct day/night destinations as you had with the pstn lines

Of course. simple. Still not understanding the issue with Trasnfers.. I've got a funny feeling they never transferred calls but were yelling out "Call on line 1" I setup the SIP trunks as DT buttons on their handsets, but I'm not sure if the Trunk Channels act the same as SLI/PRI 7xx channels

Sip trunk lines are 85xx by default

Yeah, and I've cast them as the DT keys on the DSS. but Still not working.. Ill see how they go for now, I have a ITP handset at their Sydney Office, Im going to link it over the VPN and see what they are talking about re: the other issue

With PRI and SIP trunks you do not have DT buttons anymore. Just Call buttons and Park Zones
Replace the DT with Park buttons, learning curve, but it works

Dt keys work fine.for incomming on sip, if you use them for outgoing you just press # to send the call.
Pri works, the calls don't necessarily come in on channel order, and you have an issue if you don't have enough dt keys the call cubes in on call 1, call 2, etc

I think you might be right on the money on the channel order. Probably starts at the top and goes down.

Incomming calls start from the last member in the trunk group.
Outgoing calls start from the first member (unless the trunk group is set to distribute)

That would explain it. Our PRI's on the DCS500 always start at cannel 0 for both incoming and outgoing
